April 28, 2016 meeting

Meyer, Becky
Becky Meyer, Executive Director of Youth Odyssey, Inc. will be sharing the organization’s impact on the at-risk youth of our community this April 28th.  She graduated from Western Washington University with degrees in Environmental Science and Environmental Education, with a focus on community involvement.  After graduation she joined the Peace Corps and worked in the Philippines for three years doing Community Resource Management and Advocacy for local waterways.  Back stateside. she transitioned into wilderness therapy and adventure challenge with Youth Odyssey as a program facilitator in 2006.  Moving up the ladder throughout the years she became the Executive Director in 2012.  Under Becky’s leadership, the organization has its best year in 2015, and 2016 looks to be even more successful in terms of expansion and outreach into the neediest of neighborhoods.

Ms. Meyer is looking forward to sharing her passion, mission, and vision for Youth Odyssey’s future here in the Coastal Bend with our club.

What a fantastic Thursday meeting we just wrapped up! Our agenda was full, just the way we like it! A heartfelt thank you to our fellow Rotarian, Kathleen Clark, for sharing insights about the Alzheimer's Association, an organization that holds a special place in her heart. With over a decade of volunteering, she currently serves as the Executive Event Chair for the Walk to End Alzheimer's. Her commitment to early detection and outreach truly inspires us all! We also want to extend our gratitude to the students who presented to our club today. From RYLA participants to Scouts, and including the Valedictorian and Salutatorian of Veterans Memorial High School, we were genuinely impressed by their accomplishments and their growth as leaders. ...
