In November of 2023, the Texas Society of Architects, awarded Bob Furgason the Cornerstone Award which is given to a non-architect. This award in the past has gone to people such as Lady Bird Johnson and George Mitchell. As an outgrowth of this award Bob decided to develop a presentation, “Enhancing a Community through Architectural Design”, which highlights many new structures associated with Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, with stories behind their design and what was involved behind the scenes. During his 14 years as President and a further three years as Executive Director of the Harte Research Institute, they constructed over $250 million through building and capitol improvements.
