January 19, 2017 meeting

It’s in the news… A proposed project by ExxonMobil to place the world’s largest steam cracker plant in San Patricio County. In a press release issued on July 25 by Exxon, the company confirmed that Texas and Louisiana are in the running for a proposed steam cracking plant and reports indicates that San Patricio County is believed to be one of the proposed locations.

The plant would include the world’s largest ethane cracker, which turns a component of natural gas into ethylene, the primary building block of most plastics. The project also would include plastics manufacturing.

A lot of controversy has surrounded this project. Be informed. Invite a neighbor or colleague to hear Walt Buchholtz, Senior Environmental Advisor, and  Rob Tully, Venture Executive, for ExxonMobil Corporation, speak at Thursday’s meeting.
