Ms. Julie Kavanaugh is a Foreign Service Officer and has represented the United States as a diplomat since 1990.  She is a Senior Foreign Service Officer with the rank of Minister Counselor.  She is currently serving as the Diplomat in Residence for Texas, where she is responsible for recruiting Texans to join the Department of State.  As Diplomat in Residence, she is based in Austin at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, but travels the state in search of talent.  Ms. Kavanaugh also speaks to audiences about her experiences as a diplomat to share with them how the Department of State advances U.S. and Texas interests abroad.
